Puntland NGO Network (PUNTNGO) is the umbrella body that brings together all registered local non-governmental and non-profit organizations (NGO) operating in Puntland, Somalia, and provides overall leadership and representation to the NGOs Sector in Puntland. Puntland NGO Network (PUNTNGO) was established in line with Puntland NGO Act No. 3 that was enacted by the House of Puntland State Representatives on July 31, 2016 and signed into Presidential Act by the Puntland President on August 24, 2016. The formation of PUNTNGO and the process fully comply with the Act, especially its articles 16 and 18.

Puntland NGO Network (PUNTNGO) was established in 2023 by the majority of local nongovernmental organizations in Puntland that saw the need for a network that represents the nongovernmental organizations in Puntland to promote and advocate for their common interests. The establishment of a network for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Puntland aims to promote the growth and impact of the NGO sector in Puntland while working towards the enhancement of its performance through mandated representation and advocacy of common issues and interests concerning NGOs, capacity building, advocacy, resource mobilization, coordination, and partnerships among them. A coherent, respected, well-informed NGO sector can actively contribute to and bring equity, justice, peace, and development to grassroots communities throughout Puntland, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

MISSION

The main mission of Puntland NGO Network (PUNTNGO) is to increase the effectiveness and impact of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) through a coordinated and workable mechanism, capacity development, information sharing, collaboration, networking, lobbying, and advocacy among them to be able to actively contribute to the fulfillment of development aspirations and interests of people in the state of Puntland in Somalia. PUNTNGO seeks to promote the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in driving community development and empowerment that contribute to long-term, systemic change based on the values of justice, peace, good governance, human rights, gender equality and equity, and sustainable human development.

To represent the local non-governmental organizations in Puntland on local, national, and international levels.
To champion and defend the rights and interests of non-governmental organizations in Puntland in all matters.
To create links, collaboration, and partnerships between the NGOs, government, and other stakeholders
To promote coordination, collaboration, learning experiences, and information sharing among the NGOs in Puntland to improve the quality of work they do both in service design and delivery.
To build effective networking, coalition, partnerships, and collaboration among the NGOs.
To provide capacity development opportunities for NGOs, create and facilitate spaces and forums for the NGOs in Puntland to exchange experiences, learn from, and support each other.
To strengthen the organizational, operational, and conceptual properties of non-governmental organizations in Puntland to enable effective and efficient independent operations.
To collect, process, and disseminate information, data, and publications regarding the activities and programs implemented by the NGOs.
To mobilize resources and allocate them to NGOs equitably, improve the funding resiliency and sustainability of the NGOs.
To promote the visibility, voice, and power of NGOs in Puntland, create public awareness on the role and responsibilities of NGOs in development, and influence public policy in relation to the non-governmental organizations in Puntland.
To create awareness about the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to NGO wellbeing.
To foster NGOs adherence to the laws and policies, foster ethical conduct among NGOs, and facilitate and mitigate disputes among NGOs and between NGOs and other actors.
