The Puntland NGO Network (PUNTNGO) has seen remarkable growth in both its membership and operational capacity throughout 2024. Since its official launch in late 2023, the organization has made significant strides in strengthening its foundation, expanding its reach, and enhancing its service delivery to local nongovernmental organizations in Puntland, Somalia.
Establishment of Headquarters in Garowe
PUNTNGO established a fully equipped headquarters in Garowe, Puntland, serving as a strategic hub to oversee its operations and initiatives. The new office provides the necessary infrastructure for the network to deliver its programs and services efficiently, setting the stage for sustained growth in the years to come.
A Skilled and Dynamic Team
Central to PUNTNGO’s rapid growth has been its recruitment of a talented and dedicated team, which brings a diverse set of skills and experience to the organization. Among the key staff members are:
- Ms. Arinolah Elizabeth-Nite Omollo: Serving as the Programs Assistant, Arinolah is a Kenyan national with over 15 years of experience in the development sector. Her strong academic background and extensive expertise in policy crafting, strategic planning, resource mobilization, and project management have been invaluable. In addition to her role at PUNTNGO, Arinolah provides technical support to local NGOs, helping them with proposal writing, program planning, and policy development.
- Mr. Mohamed Omar: As the Member Engagement Officer, Mohamed is a passionate young community worker who brings a wealth of experience in community development. His role involves building relationships with members, enhancing communication, and ensuring the network’s initiatives are effectively communicated to its growing membership base.
- Mr. Mohamed Dirie: With over 10 years of experience in the information, communication, and technology sector, Mohamed is the ICT Officer at PUNTNGO. He plays a crucial role in managing and improving the network’s technological infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication, and supporting the growth of PUNTNGO’s digital platforms.
Together, this team has played an essential role in driving PUNTNGO’s success and growth in its first year of operation.
Membership Growth
PUNTNGO has experienced exceptional growth in membership, expanding from just 45 members in 2023 to over 114 members in 2024. This impressive increase can be attributed to several factors, including a simplified membership application process and consistent outreach efforts by the PUNTNGO team. These efforts have made it easier for local, regional, and state-level organizations to join and be part of the network.
Currently, PUNTNGO boasts more than 100 members across Puntland, Somalia. This expanding membership is a testament to the network’s growing influence and its ability to meet the needs of local NGOs and community organizations in the region.
